TransOceanic evolved from the original TransOceanic Virtual Airlines which began flight operations in 2000 on SNET Internet, and today with our new website and premier identity at www.transoceanicva.com.

TransOceanic Virtual Airlines is not affiliated with any real world airline, and is for entertainment purposes only!, using Microsoft Flight Simulator FSX primarily, however FS2002, and FS2004 users as well are more than welcome to join TransOceanic Virtual Airlines. Pilots are able to fly flights from the posted schedule. Pilots are also able to accumulate a “virtual salary”, not real creating a more realistic & structured approach to our online virtual airline, simulating a real world operation.

Pilots have the opportunity to fly a wide variety of scenarios, from landing a "777" in Osaka, Japan, to flying throughout the Caribbean. In between, pilots can challenge themselves with everything from commuter routes, to charters and much more.

Pilots who are new to flight simulations can take some comfort in the fact that WE don't determine the realism level of your flights, YOU do! Pilots who like to fly using Jeppesen charts and such are encouraged to do so, (and we will do everything in our power to answer any questions you may have about "flight simulation"). From Anchorage to the Caribbean, across the pond to Europe and east to New Zealand, TransOceanic Virtual Airlines is "Virtually The Very Best!"

We hope this PILOT INFORMATION PACKAGE will familiarize you with the operations of the airline, and that after reading it you will decide to join us.

    How to Join
There is NO fee to join TransOceanic Virtual Airlines, (aside from normal internet connection charges). All you need is Microsoft Flight Simulator (FSX or FS2002, FS2004), a basic understanding of flight principles, and ability to complete successful (i.e. not crashing) flights. If you decide to join, please fill out and send your pilot application. Soon after sending this application in, you will receive a pilot number and a welcome E-Mail.

Please, only consider joining TransOceanic after reading this INFO PACKAGE in it's entirety!

    Hubs
The backbone of our airlines structure is made up of HUBs. A HUB represents a center of airline activity, which flights originate from, and in our case span the globe! We currently have our six hubs with our Main HUB & Headquarters at Minneapolis-St. Paul (KMSP). Our Hubs are:

  • Minneapolis-St. Paul (HQ)

  • Boston

  • San Francisco

  • Dublin

  • Dubai

  • Guangzhou

  • Here is where TransOceanic differs and exceeds the rest of the virtual airline world. Unlike other VA's you do not have to choose a HUB to be "assigned" to! We will have HUB's to fly from, however where you wish to fly from at any given time from these HUB's is your choice. You may wish to fly from San Francisco, and then Bradley to the Carribean or Houston to Rio De Janiero! It's all up to you as long as you fly a flight according to our extensive flight schedules!

    Flight Schedules
Flights may be chosen at the flight search! Pilot's may choose any flight they wish to fly from any of our HUB's.

Flight's are based on the TransOceanic Division's. For example, you may wish to fly a commercial flight to Hawaii or Japan from KSFO. You choose the flight from under the division of your choice. Be careful though as you must also fly the appropriate aircraft listed from the correct Category(CAT). You would not want to fly a Cessna thousands of miles with no land? The aircraft listed for each flight route fall under "categories", varying in size and airports which they may land at! A L1011 JUMBO would not be able to land at a municipal airport!, the runway would be awful short!!!

In order to simulate a real world flight career, we at TransOceanic have established aircraft categories.

    Aircraft Categories:

  • CAT A (Beechcraft 1900, CRJ 900, ATR 42, ATR72, Dash 8, Saab 340, Dornier Prop, Dornier Jet)

  • CAT B (Airbus 318, 319, 320, 321, Boeing 717(MD-90), 727, 737, CRJ 900, DC-9)

  • CAT C (Airbus 350, Boeing 757, 767, 787, MD-80)

  • CAT D (Airbus 330, 340, 380, Boeing 707, 747, 777, DC-8, DC-10, L1011, MD-11)

  • Divisons
TransOceanic has (5) flight divisions. Each division corresponds to the aircraft fleet.

The divisions and aircraft are, and can be found at the following hangars:

  • TVA Express [CAT A] - Express Division
  • TVA Connect [CAT B] - Regional Division - serving the U.S. & Canada
  • TVA America's [CAT C] - Domestic Division - serving N & S America
  • TVA Worldwide [CAT D] - International Division - flights around the globe!
  • TVA Logistics [Freight] - Cargo Service - worldwide
  • Pilot's are not restricted to fly from there "home" hub, and free to choose which division they wish to fly from on their routes from our HUB's.

You may wish to fly a cargo, "Milk Run", from Bradley to La Guardia to Washington National and elsewhere, or fly passengers from LAX to HOU on the "Red Eye". It's all up to you so long as you have fun!

    PIREP
What is a Pilot Report? What is a Pilot Report? Pilot reports, also known as a “PIREP,” were developed in order for your virtual airline(s) to keep track of your total flight hours. They also provide a sort of realism and order to our virtual airline. The pilot report is also our pilot's way of logging there flight hours promoting a little friendly competition seeing who can fly the most hours. Of course the more hours our pilots fly the happier our virtual patrons will be.

In order to file a PIREP, TVA pilots are required to login to the TVA Self Service HR Site or Pilot Login. Pilots must complete the PIREP only after completing a flight from the flight schedules.

As previously mentioned pilots receive a virtual salary (not real!) per mile flown, and updates automatically at time of PIREP submittal.

    TVA Sceneries
The TransOceanic Sceneries may be located and directed for downloaded at your HUB of choice, or any other!

All of our scenery files will have instructions included within a "readme.doc" file, on the proper insertion of files into the FSX directories.

    Finale
Pilots or visitors having questions about TVA may direct them to HR Support.

Before departing the Employee Manual always remember to have fun!, that is what Virtual Aviation is all about. If anyone should ever have any questions, regarding a particular HUB, feel free to E-Mail the Hub Commander at these links which may also be viewed at the HUB website.

  • Minneapolis-st. Paul Hub Commander: Kevin McNamara
  • Boston Hub Commander
  • San Francisco Hub Commander
  • Dublin Paul Hub Commander
  • Dubai Hub Commander
  • Guangzhou Hub Commander: Mark Tabacheck
  • Happy flying!!
